Dragon Hill - the place where St George Killed the Dragon
The father of the legendary King Arthur, Uther Pendragon fought off Saxon and Irish invaders, paving the way for the accession of his son. The most abiding myth, however, is that Dragon hill was the sight of the final showdown between St George and his dragon.
The reason the grass has never grown back? Because the dragon’s blood was way too poisonous.
Later, it may have become the sight of Christian or ritual worship. The views around are astonishing, and well worth the hike.
